10:30 - Topic: Jim Marstal and C.A. Savoy will lead discussion and demonstration of
techniques they learned when they attended a class by Lyle Jamison
A mini lathe will be raffled off
The demonstration will entail Jim Marstall relating the apporach that Lyle Jamison takes to woodturning and, using slides that Mr. Jamison used during the course, the basic information and instruction that he gave about turning techniques.
C.A. Savoy will then give a hands-on demonstration of the boring bar setup that Mr. Jamison is credited with inventing for use in deep hollow turning. C.A. will also demonstrate the attachment to the boring bar that is an integral part of Mr. Jamison's deep hollowing setup. This attachment is a laser pointer attached as an extension to the boring bar and assists the turner to get really thin walled vessels turning into the endgrain of deep hollow forms.
