Skill Enhancement (SE) and Pro Workshops

Skill enhancement workshops

Capital Area Woodturners conduct Skill enhancement workshops twice monthly, 9am to 3pm.   These workshops are led by experienced club members. Members are invited to attend, bring their projects, and ask questions.  All workshops limited to 10 people and reservations required.  Send email to CA Savoy to reserve your spot.  (Note, if you commit to workshop and cancel, you still owe the shop fee, (unless there was a someone on a wait list to fill your spot).

Franks Studio:  8001 Scott Place, Alexandria, VA 22308  (MAP)     It’s less than 2 miles from Bryant School. When you arrive, please park in a manner not to offend the neighbors as it’s a cul-de-sac (we park in our own driveways and a spot directly by the driveway as all have multiple cars). Go around the garage to your left and enter the shop by the rear of garage.

Shop fee:  $20 plus any materials

Pro Special Workshops
  • Special workshops are occasionally conducted by professional woodturners. We have been fortunate with coordinating workshops in conjunction with all our visiting demonstrators. Additionally on occasion we have professional turners who are in our local area and will offer a one-day workshop.
  • Workshops are conducted at Franks Studio, normal times are 08:30 – 4:00.  Bring your lunch or order subs. Fees charged for the workshops vary and will be announced with the workshop information.
  • Workshop signups. Class size is usually based on the complexity of the workshop. The more complex topics have a lower number of workshop attendees. Workshops are filled on a first com, first served basis. I will place your name on the workshop list the day I receive payment. I will hold your payment until the day of the workshop. Once the workshop is filled a standby list is started. If you’re paying by check please make out one check per workshop, make checks payable to CAW.  If you cannot attend a workshop you have paid for, please send me notification so a standby can be selected and notified to fill your position.  Contact Tom Huber at thuber829@gmail.com to sign up for workshops.
