Let's learn together
Pro Demonstrator Workshops (PDW)
Special workshops and classes are occasionally conducted by professional woodturners. We have been fortunate with coordinating workshops in conjunction with all our visiting demonstrators. Additionally on occasion we have professional turners who are in our local area and will offer a one-day workshop. Lately we have been fortunate enough to schedule free IRD’s to our members almost monthly. See Events for up-to-date details on current meetings and IRD’s.
Skill Enhancement Workshops (SEW)
Capital Area Woodturners conduct Skill Enhancement Workshops from 9 am to 3 pm, once a month on Wednesday following our Monthly Meetings. Our mentoring team, which is made up of CAW members, sponsor these workshops and classes for all members and for any level of woodworker. We can teach woodturning, woodburning, carving, staining, painting, tool sharpening and much more. Contact our mentoring team if you’d like to learn a specific skill. See the newsletter for up-to-date details on current workshops and classes.
Extra, extra, read all about it!

Book & Video Library
CAW maintains an extensive range of instructional books and videos covering just about every aspect of turning: historical reference, tools, techniques, projects, as well as club demonstrations. Books, DVDs and VHS tapes may be checked out and returned during the monthly club meetings. There is no fee for borrowing books or videos from the library but there is a late fee if they are not returned at the next scheduled monthly meeting.
Contact the Club Librarian if you have suggestions for new acquisitions or if you wish to donate books or DVDs to the club.
Be sure to take advantage of this great educational resource, as well as the free instructional videos featuring club members found here.
